Any 3ds games you are looking forward to?

There's 3 games coming this year that peak my interest

Mario sports superstars. I love the idea of multiple sports in one game and they aren't just minigames

RPG Maker fes, not exactly a creator but making small RPG games without needing to code interests me, plus it's on a convenient handheld and you can play other people's RPGs for free

Ever oasis, this looks really cool. It's an action RPG and the combat looks similar to Zelda/dark souls

I'll just get fire emblem warriors on switch but it's nice to see more new 3ds support popping up.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about MH XX since there's no western release, I'm still "only" 75 hours into generations though so I shouldn't really care unless it comes to switch lol.

FE gaiden...I mean FE echoes: shadow of valentia. Also MHXX...but IF it's release on the switch I would gladly buy it on the switch (also getting it)
3DS FC:1676-3708-5129 Sadly waiting for 7th Dragon III code: VFD and Maybe MHX
games I'm playing : Lufia I, Etrian Odyssey 4, MH4U, Kamidori Alchemy Meister
games I'll play after I finished some : Lufia II, continue 7th Dragon and 2020,

Pikmin. I know the response is pretty negative, but I think it could be good. Chibi-Robo Zip lash is pretty good, and a big departure from the original and Park Patrol, so I'll give it a shot.

I do want the Mario Sports game, but IMO the 3DS is basically done, and I'm fine with that. There are a ton of games out for it plus DS games are generally super cheap.

A bonus for me is that many 3DS games don't seem to get much attention, so it's neat to trawl through used games and find something neat for a good price.

I want the 3DS to die a horrible fiery death as quickly as possible so no, not really.

Not particularly. I have a bunch of the upcoming games on my wishlist -- like Culdcept Revolt, Ever Oasis, Fire Emblem Echoes, Lady Layton, Mario Sports Superstars, Pikmin and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns -- but there's nothing that I'm intending on buying this year.

You'll be waiting a literal eternity for a successful system that's not switch competition to die

The 3ds isn't "done" I just listed upcoming titles and there's more where that came from. There's no 3ds replacement yet, it's a different market. The only way 3ds is going to end is if an affordable switch mini/ dockless sku releases. And even then switch has no 3ds BC so you need a 3ds to play it's games unlike the GBA to DS transition

The longer Nintendo takes to kill it off the more incompetent I see them as Tbh.

It's more incompetent to expect everyone to switch to a $300 handheld that doesn't have some of the most major franchises like monster hunter and pokemon.

3ds is too inexpensive and dated in tech to be switch competition. Different markets. If someone wants better graphics and doesn't mind waiting for games then they want a switch, there's actually not many people deciding one or the other and if there is you can get both as a 2ds is only $80

Switch is a portable man. Most people who buy it will most likely be using it that way. 3DS is competition imo.

I agree. The 3DS is great, but at this point isn't Nintendo competing against themselves? Anything 3DS can do, Switch can do better. While it's true the NES and SNES co-existed, it was very clear the NES was on the way out.

I realize corporate speak won't let Nintendo come right out and say they are dropping the 3DS, but the writing is on the wall. Causing consumer doubt won't help Nintendo at this point in time. I'll be playing my 3DS for years to come, but at this point it's only hurting the focus of Nintendo. Let it die gracefully.

Switch is much more expensive and doesn't have the games that make the 3ds so great (yet). Like I said in my previous post, the price gaps and tech are too far to apart to consider them competition. It's not like a lot of people are deciding if they want one or the other. People who want a 3ds likely already have one and will get a switch if they want the newest Nintendo portable while playing their 3ds games at the same time. Then there's the crowd who gfan get a 2ds for $80 and buy a switch soon after, then they can have both

In theory switch can do a lot of things better, but it doesn't, potential is only as good as the reality (Vita says hi)

    Monster hunter,pokemon,smash Bros,bravely default

    VC

    Netflix,Hulu,YouTube

    Web browser

    Theming

    Mp3 player

Non gaming applications like animation and coding

Switch can replace 3ds once it's $200, at that point it will be standard pricing and it will have a lot of high quality games.

If Nintendo is smart they'll put 3DS on the Switch eshop. Not all games will work, but most will.

    Switch is Nintendo's future.

And I still need to buy Bravely Default, thanks for the reminder!

Then we face the same dilemma when we compare free emulation vs waiting for Nintendo to put a specific game you want on the eShop.

Have a 3ds, play any 3ds game you want unless you get a old 3ds

Have a switch with hypothetical 3ds VC, play maybe 5 3ds games.

That's on the Switch then, correct? It simply wasn't ready for launch. The 3DS wasn't awesome at launch either. The Switch will overtake the 3DS in time.

3ds didn't have a botw at launch but it have a lot more variety of games to play. That's my main concern with switch right now. The future is super bright but right now there's very very few core titles to play. Binding of Isaac is coming soon so that's nice I guess. It was supposed to be a launch title.

I am simply just not very used to game systems with little variety of available titles, I know botw is amazing but a lot of console launches I can think of have a lot of different genres to play. The Vita I still consider the best launch lineup ever imo since it came with big first party titles for core gamers (not just one) and various third party offerings, for core gamers

    Escape Plan (PSN Only)
    Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
    Hustle Kings (PSN Only)
    Little Deviants
    ModNation Racers: Road Trip
    Super StarDust Delta (PSN only)
    UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss
    wipEout 2048

That was sony games, here were the third parties

Army Corps of Hell Square Enix, Inc.
    Asphalt Injection Ubisoft, Inc.
BEN10 GALACTIC RACING D3 Publisher of America
Blazblue: Continuum Shift EXTEND Aksys Games Localization, Inc.

Dynasty Warriors Next Tecmo Koei America Corporation
    F1 2011 Codemasters
EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer Electronic Arts, Inc.

Michael Jackson The Experience Ubisoft, Inc.

Touch My Katamari Namco Bandai Games America Inc.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Capcom Entertainment, Inc.
Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition Sega of America

These were launch DAY, DAY 1 you could choose from ALL of these. Switch's launch is nothing compared to this imo.

I want to revise my statement. Botw is too good, so I guess it's fine that it and fast rmx were the only big games

I'm looking at this from a quantity perspective rather than pure enjoyment and wow factor

You do realize 3DS launched with Nintendogs and Pilotwings?

And that was after Nintendogs was dead.

Well, judging by the Wii U the Switch may never be $200. Or anything less than $300, for that matter. #WiiUStillRockin'That$300

Yep. I got Pilotwings, which is has some depth if you are willing to put time into it, and Street Fighter. Than it was nothing interesting for a long time. I didn't want Steel Diver or Nintendogs, so my 3DS didn't see a lot of use until about MK7.

As it turns out, Steel Diver is actually pretty decent. I paid $2 for it though, so that affects my judgement.

The 3DS is great, but it took awhile to get there. The ambassador games helped a little.

Yeah, when you think about it it's eerily similar to the switch launch. Breath of the Wild is a much better game than Pilotwings Resort though.

I'm not a PW fan at all, I saw the first 2 games as sort of a tech demo. PWR is mixed in with Wii Sports Resort and it actually works. I put it aside for awhile and when I picked it back up I enjoyed myself quite a bit.

I realize in a way it was a tech demo for 3D, but it's a solid game if a bit unremarkable. In some ways it's not unlike a 2600 game, and I mean that in a positive way, which is it's not immediately fun, but give it some time and it grabs you.

It's the "one more try," mentality.

When I got a 3DS i didn't think it was worth a $60 purchase (3DS game price in $AU) so I never picked it up.

That's the reality of launch games, unfortunately. They tend to be half baked sometimes. I'd say PWR is worth $10 if you like that sort of game. It's relaxing to get the early ranks and becomes stressful to get the higher ones.

It's a nice difficulty curve overall. Certainly worth a look.
