Thread: 3ds xl vs. ps vita

i do not see a difference that is huge enough for the 3ds to be weak in comparison to the ps vita. Do you guys think the difference is big or only a little bit of a improvement. I mean, not only is sony making a larger profit off of the vita while nintendo is only making a slight profit, but the vita boasts ps3 graphics and a slightly downgraded engine. The vita looks like a portable wii and the 3ds xl looks like a portable gamecube/xbox. I just don't see a big difference. The vita's backgrounds look slightly less pixelated than the 3ds xl's. I do not see the vita's huge graphical leap or it's ps3 graphics. Do you guys agree with me? Or do think the difference is huge. I think that the 3ds needs great games to negate the graphical difference and a better value price to fight the competition of the vita. Wait the 3ds already has that! The games are better to a larger audience(you might prefer the vitas games, but i am talking about the average consumer), and the value for your dollar is better, all while the graphical difference isn't that huge. What's your input on the ps vita vs. 3ds xl/3ds competition. Oh, i almost forgot about the sd/memory card thing. That is the most obvious attempt to get more money out of a consumer because not only does it take 50$ to get 3 gigabytes,while the 3ds comes with a 2g sd card(xl comes with 4g), but in order to use the ps shop, you need the memory. What do you think about all of this?

I'll be the first to admit that the Vita is a failure in the store, with little to no new titles, a lack of interest, memory cards that cost too much, etc.

However, you are absolutely nuts if you think the 3DS is anywhere near the same graphic fidelity as the Vita. The resolution differences are MUCH different alone. "A little pixelated", haha, have you ever played SFIV on the 3DS? The backgrounds were absolutely atrocious. Compare that to Wipeout 2048, or Virtua Tennis, and it doesn't compare. Not in the slightest. The Vita isn't a PS3 in terms of graphics, but it's NOT that far off. Certainly not only Wii quality. Most of the Vita launch titles alone the Wii would not be able to play. No ands ifs or buts about it.

I like both systems (though I do hate the Vita for being a waste of money, since there's nothing to play... that's a problem I have with Sony right now in general), but as someone who has owned both, they aren't anywhere near each other graphically. The 3DS' charm, much like the DS', Gameboy's etc is not graphics, but the software. Much how Apple products are honestly inferior to their Android counterparts graphically, but they sell better because of applications and games that you simply can't find on a Droid, Nintendo's portables have always sold because of the HUGE assortment of games.

Games/Software always sells a system. It's made inferior products winners countless times before, and it's the same case with the 3DS.

Hardware wise, PSVITA wins it! OLED is crisp and brilliant.

Software Wise, 3DS all the way! eShop has a huge library and tons of retail games that actually interest many.

I own a ps vita, but I am dissapointed because there arent that many games, and very few I like and have played. Some games are like ps3 repeats. I was dissapointed and thought maybe I should have got a 3ds; but Im very spec conscience these days and was mad that nintendo did not up the specs much from the ds, and felt it was repetitive harware.

Also the vita tilt, back/front touchscreen, and front/back camera all seem very useless. I felt like I paid too much. The graphics are really good in hd and texture but there are sometimes long load times and the levels sometimes seem to go by fast.(short levels). And yes it comes with no memory and the cards are expensive to add on. By the time you get it with 2 games and a memory card you would have spent over $350. And if you try to sell it back to gamestop you only get $58 for the vita.
