"A Deep Dive on LPVG’s Nintendo Switch Reports and Info" - Laura Dale

A Deep Dive on LPVG’s Nintendo Switch Reports and Info | LetsPlayVideoGames.com

Laura Dale, whom reported a lot of true rumours regarding the Switch wrote this article about all the rumours she has posted and how credible she believes them to be. Worth a read.

    Edit:
If top link isn't working, this one just worked for me. Seems like server is crashing.
    http://letsplayvideogames.com/2016/1...orts-and-info/

Edit 2: both are same link but regardless it seems to be working now.

Wow. So Laura who was right on with all the other details says battery life is mediocre, like 3 hours mediocre (not surprising), and Emily Rogers tweets about power are correct.

Seems to be all lining up. She also addressed the guy who tweeted no new info for January and seems to believe it, but that's not one of her sources it seems. She didn't go too into detail about it though.

    3 hours...you're kidding me.

And since I always have things set to high brightness, that'd be only 90 min for me. :/

Tbh I think that's pretty fair. For the most part if you're in a car or an airport battery shouldn't be an issue if you have a charger with you. 3 hours with a game like Skyrim untethered is decent.

It's only slightly more terrible then the PS4, gamepad, or 3DS battery life lol

I don't think the battery life will be that bad Since Tegra is designed to be energy efficient and I think Nintendo stated recently they want to make it easy to play NS where electricity is not readily accessible

But then it's not really portable if you have to consistently charge it

Firstly, we need to be careful to remember that just because she was right about what the Switch is doesn't necessarily mean she's going to be right on every single thing she spouts off in the future.

Secondly about the battery life, I don't even think that's worked out yet. Nintendo just said they're going to talk about that later, but they're trying to work it out so that we can comfortably play in situations where we don't have power. If she has reliable info about it lasting 3 hours, I highly doubt if that info is going to be accurate for the release hardware. I think they're still doing last minute tweaking.

Also, no way this thing supports Wii Remotes. They already confirmed no BC. I guess there could be Wii VC, but I'm dubious for this one.

I agree. At the end of the day, everything is still rumours and we all have to be completely aware of that. She may have a better track record than most, but even then nothing is concrete yet.

I just thought it important to provide the person that's been correct the most without being misleading about any rumours. We just have to wait for the official unveiling of the Switch. If its true we won't receive anymore factual information from Nintendo regarding the switch, I do hope we at least get a date for the reveal at the end of the month.

She separates he sources so we can identify which ones are reliable. Her sources from Nintendo and Ubisoft both said it uses Wii remotes for joy cons for Just Dance. They haven't been wrong about anything else yet. But she did say Joy Cons will phase out the Wii remotes over time... As in before launch? Who knows.

Battery life also came from her Nintendo source. Of course it could change, but how much more do you really think they get from 5 months of tweaks? Another hour maybe?

Oh and you'll love this. Her Ubisoft source is also who told her that Beyond Good and Evil reboot is Switch exclusive...

I only know her from the Jimquision podcast. She's leaked a bunch of stuff in the past, one being the first person to leak the PS4 slim. Somehow she got her hands on a model weeks before the announcement and no one would touch it for fear of Sony coming down on them. She ended up leaking it herself on her website.

I just read the blog post, and I've changed my opinion on the Wii Remote thing. First of all, I wasn't thinking about Just Dance. But also, I remembered something I noticed from the trailer. At one point when they're playing local multiplayer with the Joy Cons, there is one woman who is holding it like a Wii Remote and pointing it towards the screen. It had darned well better not require a light sensor, though.

About the power level being under the XB1, I really hope that's not right. If it is, I'm glad I still have my PC that's more powerful than a Scorpio.

They've come a long way in motion controls, a sensorbar wouldn't necessarilly be needed. My samsung tv remote works pretty well, and that's just a tv remote

You don't need the sensor bar for Wii Remote Plus games, but if they put any of the older ones on the VC, you'd have to be able to support it.

They could always just release a battery pack that could charge the unit like a lot of phones have now couldn't they? For people who really do want to play it for hours away from mains power (which does happen to me every so often but not enough to be annoying).

I have higher capacity batteries in both my gamepad and my n3dsxl, that can make a difference too.

But yeah, make it so it can charge from a standard power bank.

The high capacity battery is great in the gamepad, didn't realise there was one for the 3DS (is it official?).

No it's unofficial, I think it was ordered from a duracell webshop (I just told someone to find it and ship it to me )

Well I probably won't bother now with the Switch on the horizon and my N3DS battery life being pretty decent, good that there are options out there though.

It better damn well not be. Otherwise it'll just make things worse for NintendoSwitch in the long run.

I've never felt this uncertain about a Nintendo system in awhile. Now this is not to say that I'm ready to bite the bullet and get a PS4 or XB1, I just wanna see more of this first before I take the plunge, including WHAT games it gets.
I never buy Nintendo consoles just to play Nintendo games. I buy them to play both Nintendo AND third party games.

Agreed, no more proprietary ports! Make a grave for them right next to Region Lock and System-Based Downloads.

I'm extremely cautiously optimistic about the Switch. This is a huge gamble for Nintendo.

LKD thinks the dock improves processing power, while Emily knows nothing about that. Could be the portable alone is below Xbox One? Hopefully we know soon.

The good news is that we're guaranteed to find most of that stuff out before it launches and before we have to decide whether we're taking the plunge or not. The bad news is that it's looking more and more like we're going to have to wait until January to find any of it out.

Let's hope that's the case. If the console mode is slightly less than XB1, then how weak is it going to be in portable mode?

And about that, I do believe that it will have a power boost when it's plugged in. But I believe it's going to be handled internally with the Tegra chip's boost, rather than with external hardware. Even laptops throttle the CPU when they're unplugged.

That's the big thing. How could the portable even play the new Skyrim if it's in the ballpark of Wii U power? It's doubtful Bethesda developed a special Switch version of the title, especially after what they've said...

Bethesda is never developing anything specifically for one platform, they're all about the money.. but they're transparent about it so I don't really mind

yeah so having said that, NS at minimum has to be on par with XB1 logically
