More NPD details for Switch's first month

NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch - Nintendo Life

March 2017 will go down in history books as the month Nintendo broke records.

The Nintendo Switch had the biggest hardware launch for a Nintendo platform and the second biggest launch for any video game platform since 1995, the time NPD began tracking this category.

In this debut month (month 1), the Nintendo Switch sold 31K more units than previous best-selling Nintendo month-1 platform, the Game Boy Advance, which released back in June 2001. The two Nintendo Switch SKUs, the 32GB Gray Joy-Con, followed by the 32GB Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con, were the best-selling systems for the month.

Zelda is the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, selling 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, Resident Evil.

Why doesn't Switch have LEGO Worlds? That seems like a no brainer.

Is it still a multiplat if it's really late?

I don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill here, but Switch not getting stuff like the Disney Afternoon Collection or a freaking LEGO game...well, that doesn't bode well, especially since it's a pretty safe bet it's not a lack of power keeping those games from being ported.

It's a lack of publisher confidence. Hell, even WiiU got all the LEGO games. Not a good sign.

Nintendo doesn't get any 3rd parties, unless they're a minimum of 6 months later than everyone else.

But Switch was supposed to be a fresh start with Nintendo! Didn't you see how many indie games, ports, and reluctant and not at all insincere industry backing it got?

That's what I was referring to indirectly. He looks like after this is over if he showed any enthusiasm EA was going to tie him to a chair, put his feet in a metal pan of water and attack his nuts with shocks from a car battery.

Of course we will get third party games on Switch as long as the system continues to sell. But remember, one month isn't enough. The momentum has to be sustained. That's on Nintendo to do.

As for the Disney Afternoon compilation, maybe we'll see it later on, maybe we won't. Either way, too early to say. Just watch and see what happens.

I never buy Nintendo consoles just to play Nintendo games. I buy them to play both Nintendo AND third party games.
Favorite WiiU Games So Far: Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, The Cave, DuckTales Remastered, AC III, Resident Evil: Revelations, Bayonetta 1 & 2

I broadly agree, but if you already have a PS4 and a Switch, are you really going to wait for the unproven Switch version? Or just buy the one that's currently available?

This is is where I feel companies like Capcom are screwing up.
