Thread: (Extended!) CONTEST: Win 10 Wii U Games!

The Wii U has launched and we're celebrating with a HUGE Wii U Forums Contest!

The basics:

• 10 winners!
• 5 weeks!
• 2 winners each week! (Decided Friday Nights or Saturdays)
• Each winner receives a Wii U Game of THEIR CHOICE!
• Win simply by being a great member of the community!

The details:

Game #1: MVP of the Week (Most Valuable Poster)
Emphasis on VALUE. A "Most Valuable Poster" will be selected at the sole discretion of the staff based on a combination of quality of posts and quantity of posts. We're looking for members who are helpful, friendly, inviting, interesting, and opinionated who bring valuable content to the entire community. Making fluff posts and replying a billion times with stuff like "Thanks" and "Cool" to pad/increase your post count will HURT you rather than help you. If several members are equally awesome in a given week, we'll randomly pick from this pool of members to decide who wins.

Examples of quality content include:
--Offering tips and tricks for specific games
--Providing in-depth reviews of games
--Answering people's question/support/troubleshooting threads

Game #2: RM of the Week (Random Member)
Not every member will WANT to be an MVP but EVERYONE is a valuable asset to the community... so the Random Member of the week gives EVERYONE who participates a chance to be a winner. Simply make at least 20 posts in any given contest week and you're automatically entered to win. Wii U Forums Staff will select a winner randomly, notify them in this thread and via E-Mail, and they'll have 48 hours to "claim" their prize. If they don't respond within 48 hours, we'll select another random winner. The required 20 post count resets every Friday night at 11:59pm for the duration of the contest.

Picking the winners: Once we determine the top X that are all eligible for each drawing, we will simply pick one randomly for each list. This is easy to do. We'll either do it systematically with a small PHP script for example, or perhaps go with a more fun way. We've done contests on video before, for example.

You will just have to trust us to some degree. We ARE random, and we use our best judgement to figure out who in the top X SHOULDN'T be eligible and replace them with the next who is. This is meant to be fun, so let's not dissect the winners each week and make it less fun.

Yes, those on the "Game #1" list will inherently be included in the "Game #2" list. Yes it possible for you to win both. Probably won't but hey, it's possible and we won't stop it. (If we were to do one right now with todays numbers there would be a 2.2 or so percent chance of happening.)

And yes, each week is a clean slate, you can win multiple weeks. Winners will either be shipped the game of their choice, or be sent the funds via PayPal so they can purchase on their own.

So let the fun begin, we start today!

PS: If the contest is successful... we may extend it and/or add more prizes!

And that is how you DON'T get noticed and appreciated in forums my friends. But seriously, this project is so awesome for the staff to introduce, and the fact that you guys will be giving away prizes for the benefit of the community just gives me so much respect for all of those involved.

I have to be honest guys, last week I was VERY sceptical of the future of this forum. There was near to no moderator activity, members were getting out of control and it wasn't getting better at all. Now, I take that all back. Seriously. So much has changed in last week and I would like to thank the staff very much for not just this contest, but for getting this forum back too something very special to me.

When does the contest start?!

This is great to hear. I was expecting some kind of contest to celebrate the launch. I thought it would end up being some month long art contest for a Wii U. I am happy it turn into something I have a chance of winning because we have a lot of great artist here on Wii U Forums and I would not stand a chance against them. Thanks for the great contest rob and phases.

For those wondering about what game you'll receive, you can request a game or we can PayPal you the amount the game would cost in-store, so either way you'll get what you want if you win.

Cool contest! I was reading the main site and saw this. I think it's really cool for the staff to do this. I have to wait till Christmas to get the Wii U though... I guess if I win a game I will just have to wait to play it hahaha!

By saying you are gauranteed to win, you are basically saying you are the most kind, helpful, interesting poster out there. Although that may be true, your ego would say otherwise, so try and stay on the supportive side. We all want to win, but saying you're the best most likely hurts your chances.

Yeah, they're really aiming high with this contest, and that's great because I'm getting my wii u tomorrow with no game (I'm getting the basic set) and I really want Nintendo land, to play with my friends

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic ... Well, who can tell nowadays? Hopefully he was.

Even if he wasn't though, I would just ignore them. No need to argue over littles things like that, they are only doing the worst for their selfs and it's better to stay out of it.
