Special User Groups:
Administrator - Green Bold Name
Administrators have the highest authority. They manage the rules, website, forum's layout and settings, etc., and they typically deal with technical issues and keep the site running. They can make announcements, sticky threads, delete threads/posts, ban, etc. They will have the final saying in a disagreement related to moderating actions taken.

Moderator - Orange Bold Name
Moderators are hand-picked members (usually helpful and active in the community) that enforce the rules and strive to manage and maintain a harmonious environment. They can sticky threads, move, delete, etc.

----I would remove Guides and either just make them, on choice: Moderators, Masters or just Regulars.----

Master - Purple Bold Name
Masters are hand-picked members who are have been chosen, on rare occasion, when staff members agree upon an user/users that have been helpful, extremely active or are deemed as very well liked on the forums. (But the reasons differ case to case). This is the highest rank achieveable without joining the Wii U Forums staff, however these users may uphold some 'authoritative' power to begin with as they are usually very liked on the forums beforehand. When moderators are needed, they're generally chosen from this group.

Elite Member - Blue Bold Name
Elite Members are members who have obtained 2500 quality posts on the forums, and as such have been rewarded with a Blue bold nametag. Other then being able to customise their ranks, they are not able to have any other powers on the forums.

Member of the Year (MOTY) - Red Bold Name
MOTY's are members who have been decided upon as the most popular member, after a community vote that takes place every December near the holidays. Anyone is allowed to win, after doing so obtain a bold red nametag for one year, and are able to customise their ranks.

Rookie of the Year (ROTY) - Red Name (not bold)
ROTY's are members who have been decided upon as the most popular new member, after a community vote that takes place every December near the holidays. Only members who have joined from that past year can be nominated for this award, so members who have joined before this time frame can not be nominated. After winning, this member obtains a normal red nametag for one year, and are able to customise their ranks.



Feel to comment and suggest more ideas, but I just wanted to see how people will react to my idea.

I agree with this.

Except I think MOTY and ROTY aren't necessary, and Moderator should be Red, because orange might be too bright (not sure).

I like this. I am borderline slightly addicted. I think my ranking on Top Posters speaks for itself as I post almost double the person in 2nd place. I might need a life!

Why not have the ranks be Mario characters?
0-49- Goomba
50-99- Koopa
100-249- Toad
250-499- Yoshi
500- 999- Luigi
1000+- Mario
I do like the idea of Masters. However, I think the ROTY and MOTY should be changed to a month.

I find those rankings to close to one another, plus 2500 posts can be easily obtained in a few months. What if you've obtained 100,000 a few years down the road. I'd like to bring y'all's attention to a post I made 3 weeks ago prior to the merge.

The trophy point system here is much better than the rankings there. You can see that several members here have greater than 1000 messages, which eclipses your top users there; therefore, I request that the rankings be changed entirely or new ones are added. Since, the ranking simply reflect message count, then how about the following:

0-49 posts Rank A (New Member)
50-99 posts Rank B (Member)
100-499 posts Rank C (Active Member)
500-999 posts Rank D (Contributor)
1000-9999 posts Rank E (Senior Member)
10000-99999 posts Rank F (Epic Poster)
100000+ posts Rank G (Legendary Poster)

100 posts can be obtained in a day or two, so it truly isn't a big accomplishment. I'm being quite optimistic, but it isn't too far-fetched to think that some users could reach 100000 posts especially IF the site covers the ninth generation.

It'd be cool if there were perks to attaining each status. It'd also be nice if each status had its own username color. Rainbow colors would be the most basic, but you can think of something cooler.

I like your idea, but I'd like to add two things:

Problem A: I was on a forum which had been around for almost 10 years, and the oldest and most active person (who had always been on daily) only achieved 35k posts.
Problem B: Having to many different coloured names for everyone would make the ste look a tad messy.

Solution A: Use the idea of Nintendo ranks, and combine a middle ground between your and mine ranks:

Solution B: While I think certain perks would be nice for certain ranks, colours should only be given out on occasion in my opinion.

You have a point regarding too many colors, which is why I've only listed 7 ranks. This site would have to be booming for a long time for people to reach rank G, so it's more like 6. Maybe activity/helpfulness could be the criteria for a promotion. My point here is what if all "Epic Posters" were given the option to become moderators, then all moderators could have the same color as epic posters. The staff could just take Platinum, Gold, and Silver. Those colors really stick out and aren't related to red, orange, yellow, etc.

Why, everyone gets a cool name if they reach 100, and some people aren't as superposty as others.

100 isn't superposty. Back during the Wii U Daily Forums' first few weeks, you could easily get 100 posts in one day without effort. 1000 posts isn't much unless you are occupied with schoolwork, job(s), family, etc. all the time, i.e. things you're supposed to do.

Right now, there is no reward for having more than 100 posts. What's sillier is the fact that you could be considered a "senior member" in less than 24 hours. Ridiculous. I guess one can twist it and say that "senior member" is just a way to make newer or rarely active members feel special. Sorry if I sound offensive, but I will not budge.

I agree to the first post. Except Epic poster be moved up to 3000, for now, and a bunch in between. If the site grows a lot we could simply move the top ranks up a bit and add some more to the bottom, or decrease the amount of ranks.

I like GameSpot's system, but that seems like too much for a site like this.
The levels became increasingly difficult to obtain. It's like the amount of time it took to gain each rank rose exponentially.

Good ideas so far everybody! If we all agree on something solid, Phases can make it official. I do think the mass coloring could be an issue, as others have said.

Here's my own ranking system that I came up with, which I encourage to be built upon and improved:

0-49 posts: New Member

50 posts: Rookie

200 posts: Junior Member

400 posts: Regular

600 posts: Versatile Member

800 posts: Ethos

1000 posts: Senior Member

Looking at how the forums have been since mid-August, this seems good. If activity ever reaches or surpasses the level it was at the first few weeks after Wii U Daily Forums were launced and is maintained for a good while, then either new ranks will be needed or they'll have to be spread.

Great! I just get to Senior Member status and ya' knock me back down! This is about that triple postl, isn't it....come on, fess up!

It actually kinda reminds me of the Call of Duty prestige system, especially right now! So in about 74 more posts I'll be Normal. Yeah, that'll never happen!
