    Mario Kart 8

We all know Mario Kart 8 will arrive on the Wii U in 2014, likely Q2. Nintendo had a playable demo on the E3 2013 show floor and select Best Buy locations for the Nintendo Experience.

With the basics out of the way, let the discussions begin!

Oh, also GameXplain for the win - and some lulz.

I found them and watched their entire back catalog of videos. I especially enjoy their Cool Bits and Analysis videos.

Considering there hasn't been a single Mario Kart without a Rainbow Road, I'd say it's a safe bet.

I'm still hoping for a mystery 9th GP...

I'm just wondering how this upside down crap is going to play out. Hopefully, they just flip your view to where it looks rightside up, instead of making it confusing like Mario Galaxy.

Imagine a shoulder camera on a rollercoaster.

It's going to work like that. So yeah, the camera follows you perfectly and doesn't get confusing. Just look at some of the gameplay trailers of it.

I think they went anti gravity to have 3d tracks so that they could show off wii u's capabilities.

From what I played, the camera seems to pan with you... I had no more issues than usual driving with anti-gravity wheels. I got a kick out of all three tracks myself

WOW, I thought I was detailed, great review and this is the kind of details my OCD LOVES!!!!!!!!!!

I really thought about getting the old Mario Kart for the Wii just to hold me over but didn't think it would look that great with the upscaled graphics and wasn't sure if a lot of people still played this with their Wii U's, thoughts anyone? I got the Sonic & All-Stars which so far is fun but I still miss my Mario Kart but just don't know if I should hold out for 8.

    Thanks for any info!

For anyone wondering how the game looks when playing.....

(the audio was replaced due to hyperactive douchebag! )

EDIT: I'm really not pimping my video, just seemed the most appropriate response to some of the questions being raised...

I read the interview from another thread. I just want to see the blue shell, but it hasn't been designed yet. I've read a few things on the Mario Kart forum, and I hope you guys don't moan and complain if there are inside drifting bikes. I'm so glad this community is not dedicated to a specific intellectual property, so we don't have to have such divisive debates.

I'm not a big fan of Mario Kart Wii. It's not a bad game by any stretch, but it doesn't hold a candle to Double Dash. I think Sonic Racing is a better game, so if I were you, I'd hold out for Mario Kart 8. That one looks absolutely incredible.

All I hear about is Double Dash. I've even met fans of Double Dash in real life. It was pretty cool but lacked online support. That would probably kill it for me. A competitive scene or good online extends the life of a game for countless hours (or you could have friends).

That is true. And I never bothered to play it online either, so I wasn't taking that into account. I just love the overall design of Double Dash, and I think if he's already got Sonic he's not missing out by not getting Mario Kart Wii. My opinion, and I freely admit it could be wrong (or kinda wrong)--but Mario Kart 8 is probably only like nine months away.

I imagine that Mario Kart 7's fire flower could add to the chaos, but I never played it online or with anyone else. Mario Kart Wii online races were pretty chaotic and fun with or without the hackers. I'll try and pick it up again. I haven't played video games much besides Brawl and Brawl hacks, and I haven't played those in a while either. :/

Also keep in mind, you can avoid hackers by setting up races with people you know (like through these forums).

I think it's a lot more fun to play without cheating and with people you know to some extent.

I have no problems with FTL hackers or "donors"; they make the matches more interesting and may reward you in the end. People who just used stars or bullet bills the whole race were boring and could ruin the race. Mario Kart Wii's blue shell was awesome yet insane.

I'm a major sci-fi nut, and FTL immediately screams "faster than light" to me...

    Is that what you mean?

Haha, no. It means "for the loss". Those are hackers who make things more interesting but play to lose.
Blue shell, bullet bill, and star abusers are the bad hackers. There's just no way to compete with them and sometimes they block a whole section of the track.

No, I've never manually hacked into anything. I've used Action Replay codes for Gameboy advance games, but that's it. Wait, I also use SD cards to play Project M and Brawl- on my Wii, but I didn't do those hacks either.

    Not quite what I meant...

I was kinda just referring to the abbreviations. As in jokingly saying you cheat by using FTL (which I see as faster than light) instead of ftl (which I see as for the loss)...

I'm curious how red shells will work with this antigravity stuff.

Well, they still target the nearest opponent... Though I admit, I'm also curious how the engine will handle tracking...

I didn't have the opportunity in my playtime, unfortunately.

0.o when you flip over you instantly become stuck to the ground unable to move another inch until "Lakitu" shows up and saves you.

Every time I see footage of Mario Kart 8, I'm instantly reminded of Crash Nitro Kart due to the similarities between each titles' anti-gravity mechanics, including the rotation of the wheels. I loved Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Kart 7 was decent as well, so there's no doubt that I'll also love Mario Kart 8.

I'll definitely be up for some Mario Kart 8 when the title releases, should the title allow global multi-player instead of regional specific.
