You'll notice some good and bad things about the list. For me, the good would be that Sega & Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed is a launch title, along with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition.

However, some great games have missed the launch day, and are now listed as launch window including Rayman Legends, Aliens, and other standouts like the Wonderful 101.

For me that means half my pre-ordered games will come out later in the year or early next year. Boo. To be fair, my two favorite pre-orders are the launch day ones, so that's a plus.

How is everyone else's pre-order list? Did you get everything you wanted on launch day, or will you have to wait to get all your pre-ordered games?

Launch window could mean anytime between November and March, so I don't know what to think about those titles.
I'm very happy that I can have Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Rayman Legends and New Super Mario Bros. U from the first day, and FIFA 13 & Assassins Creed III are out on the first day as well. It's frustrating that Bit Trip Runner 2 won't be available until January, but there are all the other eShop titles to look forward to before then. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it!

Someone mentioned Rayman comes out the following Tuesday after launch, so I guess that's not too bad. Aliens I guess was pushed back to February for the Wii U as well, which sucks. I had heard it was a timed exclusive.

I have pre-ordered no games since it is so close to the holiday season. I did get a Deluxe, so Nintendo Land should last me a few weeks. I may pick up Trine 2 off the eShop if the price is right. I may pick up a game from the Nintendo World Store when I visit NYC in December, though, just for the heck of it. We'll see - I may just wait until Christmas and get the games as gifts.

I hadn't heard about Rayman on the 20th, but I think it's been confirmed for European launch, so that makes sense. This is a much better list than the ten titles they confirmed on Sept. 13th. Happy as heck Tekken is there at launch--I saw a thing recently that it'd be 2013. This is the second official list, and I've seen two unofficial lists since the 13th, so it could still change. I hope not, though.

Reggie recently hinted that there are still unannounced games for the Wii U, some of them due in the launch window. So it may change for the better!

I don't think Tekken will change. I saw my first Wii U commercial last night, and it was for the Wii U version of Tekken. If they're playing commercials for the game, I'm assuming that means it's release is right around the corner. And this official list kinda cements that theory.

Retro game! Retro game! Retro game! (A guy can always hope, can't he?)

Metro? Do you mean Retro or Metroid?
I think there will be at least one first party and one third party game to show off. If I was to guess, I'd say they were F-Zero and Resident Evil 6. F-Zero because it's highly likely that Retro's game will be announced, and if it was a bigger title like Metroid it probably would've been announced already. I'd say Resident Evil 6 because Capcom have said they're still working on another Wii U game, and RE6 is their latest game so it would make sense.

Just curious, why would Retro be highly likely to do an F-Zero title? I'd love to see F-Zero again. Just don't want to get my hopes up this generation if it won't come again though..

I'm saying it's highly likely that it is Retro's game that will be announced, not that it's highly likely that it will be F-Zero. I'm guessing it's F-Zero because it's something that Retro have been heavily asked to do by fans. It could be anything, I just think it's F-Zero.
Sorry for the confusion, my wording was pretty bad.

Yeah, that was a brain fart. I was thinking about Metroid and Retro, and involved in a text conversation with my wife at the same time. My bad, I have since edited it. I love the Metroid Prime series, but as you know, I'd rather have Retro's new game be F-Zero. But I do think it's Metroid. I think either F-Zero or Metroid would qualify as a big title, and I have no idea why it hasn't been announced either way. They almost revealed it at E3, after all. RE6 would make a lot of sense, but it could be Lost Planet, or something.

No biggie. Thanks for clarifying. I would like a generation from Nintendo that isn't so Mario/Zelda centric. Not that I don't like Mario or Zelda, but they have so many other IPs to draw off of, it would be nice to see some in HD. F-Zero, Starfox, Waverace all come to mind, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

I think they said it wasn't at a quality which they thought was appropriate to show to the public, but we will see it soon.
As for Capcom, it could be RE6, LP3, or even DmC.

They have plenty of franchises, but I understand why Wave Race/F-Zero/StarFox didn't appear on the Wii. Although, there isn't the same excuse this time around.
Talking about their franchises, I was playing SSX the other day and it reminded me of how much I miss 1080 Snowboarding. All these AWOL franchises really need to return!

Yeah I understand too. Besides motion control, the versions wouldn't have been any better looking, since the hardware was nearly as powerful as the GC. Hopefully with the extra power, they see the need to make HD versions of those franchises.

No better looking, no depth in online modes (if any) and no guarantee of a market for such games.
All those reasons are gone, so they have nothing to stop them.

Nintendo has so much IP's. I think they should just make a game or two from every one each generation. That way they don't need to milk Mario that hard and maybe they could even drop some Mario spinoffs because they have enough first party franchises to be busy with. Maybe they dont sell as wel as Mario but allot of fans would be happy, and maybe if some people se how much unique/different IP's they have they buy a WiiU instead of a PS4/newt Xbox what gives Nintendo more money.

I don't think Nintendo has much of a choice this generation than to use more of it's existing IPs. With them ditching their main control scheme to go back to a more traditional controller, it would make sense for them to go back to more traditional games (less Wii Fits, Wii Plays etc). Plus with them trying to get back the core gamer, it would also make sense for them to give us the IPs we've been begging for.

I think it was one of those things though, where they probably wanted to make those games. But they looked at the hardware, and they looked at the GC versions, and asked themselves what they could do better and just drew a blank.

You may well be right about that last part. We'll see what they do from here on out. We may see fewer first party games this time around--it's going to be more expensive and take longer to develop them. I hope they pick and choose well.

With a new mmore powerfull HD console they can really "reinvent" everything. And i think all of the big fans are happy at this moment with just a updated HD version of the games they want.
If they sell good and look at the things fans said on the internet about the things they didn't like or their ideas they could take those and use them in a total new game.
Also i think Nintendo should push the pro controller more to developers saying support it, that way the hardcore gamers that want to play with a controller can do that and arent turned off if they dont want to use the gamepad.

I look for Wii Fit U to come out immediately after the New Year to cash in on everyone's New Year's resolutions. There's only a short window after Jan. 1st for that to work.

Read an interview with one of the main Madden guys a couple of days ago, and he said it was a day one launch title. I'm starting to think I'm just going to have to walk into a store on the 18th and see what they have!

Yeah, the list of launch games is extremely vague, they announced the launch games on the Nintendo direct and now they are adding and dropping allot of games for it. Really confusing, they should come with a official list and keep it that way instead of adding and removing games from it.

I wonder what's going on. They had Tekken as a launch title, then 2013, then a launch title again (just as an example). Do you think they're still messing with us, or are they having problems getting the games ready?

I doubt the dates are moving around, as Namco never changed the release date on their end. I think it's just disorganization right now. They probably aren't used to working with so many developers at once in such a short amount of time, so they're probably getting their wires crossed.

This is complete speculation on my part, so take it for what it's worth, but...

Capcom is going to show off something at New York Comic-Con. Yoshinori Ono, one of the main people responsible for the revival of Street Fighter, has been hinting really heavily at a new Darkstalkers for quite a while now. If it were to be made I'm sure we could expect it on Wii U.

What I'm wondering now, though, is if we'll get a version of Street Fighter x Tekken. I've owned the game on PS3 and, for some understandable reasons, it had a bit of a lackluster reception. They've been slowly tweaking it and have hinted that some pretty wide encompassing changes to the game mechanics are coming, yet they seem to be really secretive about it. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they were looking into releasing it as a full-on version update (similar to SFIV -> SSFIV -> SSFIV AE), and take the opportunity to port it to Wii U. After all, Super Street Fighter IV released at the 3DS launch and saw quite a bit of praise. I'm sure they'd want to take advantage of that again, add to that the fact that TTT2 will be introducing a lot of Nintendo fans to that franchise for the first time.

Everything just seems to fall into place really well. But of course, it could be anything really. Just a guess.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I'd forgotten about that game. As you said Wii U fans will have just been indoctrinated to Tekken, and it sets up people to buy more Street Fighters in the future. I'd rather have a different game (but not RE6, sounds like it sucks), but it would be hilarious if yet another definitive version of a popular game was released for the Wii U.

Darkstalkers? I'd be interested, but I'm skeptical that Capcom would put a lot of effort behind that to make a retail title. Maybe a downloadable game. It would make sense getting SSF4:AE in there to make sure that Tekken don't get all the new players, and I'd buy both games. As for SFxT, I never bought that because of the whole on-disc DLC drama but the premise behind it excited me; my two favorite fighting games coming together as one. If we're gonna speculate, then don't forget that Namco are making Tekken x Street Fighter so that could have a chance of being on the WiiU as well.

Ahh, Capcom. We all just love your games but hate your business tactics, it's like how Wal-Mart gives good prices but kills small businesses.

Darkstalkers? I'd be interested, but I'm skeptical that Capcom would put a lot of effort behind that to make a retail title.
To be honest I don't think they'd need to put a lot of effort forward for that to begin with. They have a lot of assets they could reuse from Marvel vs Capcom 3, considering how similar it is in design to the VS games of the past. It's just a matter of creating new art assets and a few gimmicks for gameplay mechanics.

It would make sense getting SSF4:AE in there to make sure that Tekken don't get all the new players, and I'd buy both games. As for SFxT, I never bought that because of the whole on-disc DLC drama but the premise behind it excited me; my two favorite fighting games coming together as one.
I'd love for AE to get released on Wii U. It's one of my favorite fighters of all time, just really well designed and balanced for the most part. Not sure if it ever will, but here's to hoping. As for SFxT, the funny thing about that is that the game at its core is incredibly fun. They just made horrible decisions regarding...well, pretty much every other aspect. The locked characters is the one that stands out the most, but until the team was reshuffled they were actually making it worse with each patch. Broken autoblock gems in particular. They were bad enough in the beginning, then for some reason they thought it was a good idea to patch in even stronger versions.

Anyway, I just hope they can turn it around because for all of it's faults it's still a ton of fun. Especially when you end up playing with a tag partner.

If we're gonna speculate, then don't forget that Namco are making Tekken x Street Fighter so that could have a chance of being on the WiiU as well.
That's not really speculation, more of an extremely safe assumption. I don't even think they're out of alpha phase with the development of that game yet, so I'd be genuinely surprised if that doesn't end up on Wii U, especially given how Harada is supporting it at launch with TTT2.

Felicia, Morrigan and Hsien-Ko were in MvC3, and Demitri will be in Project X Zone, so Capcom definitely haven't forgotten about Darkstalkers. I do think it would have to be quite different to MvC3 though.

I wasn't a big fan of the gem system, or the fact that Sony got exclusive characters and the Xbox didn't (they weren't all that good though). It would be OK to see a version of it on the Wii U, but to be honest I'd prefer SSF4:AE. SFxT just leaves out too many good characters in my opinion, like Fei Long, Yun, Yang, Makoto, Lee and Miguel.

Can't be too sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if we see it in the future. Hopefully TTT2 is the beginning of an influx of fighting games on the Wii U.

I was alerted to the new GameStop online catalog by another website a little bit ago, and found some interesting stuff there. Mass Effect 3 and Madden '13 are now day one launch titles, apparently. Actually that's not even right--they will be available 5 days before launch, on the 13th. Some other accessories, and a couple of other games will be available then, too. They have Rayman as March 5th, 2013. They also have Bayonetta 2 as being released before the end of the year.

I'm going to pull out what little is left of my hair trying to come to grips with all this. Oh well, I guess Madden will be one of my first games instead of Call of Duty. Wanted Madden more anyway.

What's going on here?
Well the game officially releases on November 13th...which probably includes the Wii U version - however stores probably won't be allowed to put on the shelves until the 18th for the Wii U. Who knows?

Even if they do release early, the game is a paperweight until the 18th!

I wouldn't have a problem buying a game a few days before - it just makes release day that much of a quicker process. No need to pry the games off other rabid consumers hands on day 1. One can just grab my preorder and go home!

I pre-ordered mine online. I was a little concerned about perhaps not getting my Wii U before my 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving, but according to the instructions about the Wal-Mart layaway, units will start arriving in stores between the 14th and the 16th. Hopefully that applies to all retailers. I assume they will start shipping out pre-orders as they arrive in stocks in the order the pre-orders were received. At the very least, I will get it on Black Friday, if not sooner. Hell, some may even be lucky and get the Wii U on the 17th!

Yeah, come out the 15th or 18th, it doesn't really matter. Consider everything's release date prior to the 18th as honestly coming out on the 18th as you can't use it till then anyway.

It's not really confusing at all. Most systems have some of their software coming out prior to the console's release date.

Not in the timing sense, no. But those two games were on the day one list, off the list, on it again, off it again, and now are on it again. That doesn't happen very often, and you've got to wonder when the heck they are actually going to be on store shelves. I'd imagine the ad is right, it's so close to the actual launch and all. I hope it is so I can snag Madden on the 13th. It will be more popular than Tekken and Sonic Racing.

I'm not terribly sure about that. There's a lot of hype around Tekken. And Madden isn't the full experience found on the PS3 and the 360, which I think has killed a lot of momentum for the Wii U version of that game. I think you'll be able to find Madden just fine.

You may be right, but if I can get it on the 13th I will, and not take any chances. There's a GameStop right next to one of the grocery stores we go to a lot, so swinging by there won't be that big of a deal. I'm far more psyched for Tekken than I am for Madden, but I buy Madden almost every year anyway, so getting the Wii U version is a no-brainer. And I would imagine it will sell very well, even without the Infinity Engine (or whatever the hell it's called) and those game modes.

Well since I am unsure if I will be able to get one for launch day. Getting just a system will sustain me for months. Only reason I am getting Tekken is so I can have something to play with you guys online otherwise I would wait.

I am not getting any game at release except Nintendo Land as part of the bundle. I may get an eShop title, but I pretty much have to rely on games for Christmas. I MAY get one game when I visit the Nintendo World Store during my trip to NYC in December, but we'll see.

I'll be getting Tekken, Sonic & Sega ASRT, of course Nintendo Land as it's free, and probably Mario U on launch. Mario has been shaping up better than I thought.

For Christmas though I'm asking for several games. Madden is one of them.
