CANDLE Indie Kickstarter game uses Direct X11, and is Confirmed for Wii U

CANDLE, a dynamic graphic adventure, is officially confirmed for Wii U, however, the interesting thing about the game is that it uses Direct X11 shaders for dynamic lighting.

Final Fantasy 15 producer Tetsuya Nomura suggested that Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 15 can’t be on Wii U because it doesn’t support Direct X11. Either way, check out the Kickstarter video for CANDLE.

Here is what the developers said about bringing the game to Wii U.
“We really want to take Candle to Next-Gen consoles, so we immediately talked to Nintendo and showed them our precious game.”
“We love Nintendo platforms since our childhood has been full of them, so it was natural for us to go for it. We are already thinking about dedicated gameplay on Wii U – we are not doing any kind of quick port. We will designe specific gameplay features for its gamepad: all the menus, inventory and minigames will be tactile-controled on the touchscreen, as well as other unique actions concerning Teku’s candle. We will talk more deeply about this when we start developing all that stuff.”

Well apparently it can. And BTW, the whole thing about Tetsuya Nomura implying that FFXV and KHIII, as I've proven, was just a BS thing blown out of proportion. That wasn't what REALLY happened. It was just a mistranslation misinterpreted by some guy at NeoGAF and blew it out of proportion.

But at any rate, if this game IS able to run DX11, then Square-Enix no longer has an excuse to not bring these two titles to WiiU. It PROVES that DX11 CAN be run on WiiU. Somebody contact the KHIII to WiiU Facebook page and tell them this news!

Direct x is a microsoft graphics API, isn't really relevant to wii-u, ps3.

I never really said that I thought GTAV was still coming to WiiU, just that there MIGHT be a chance. (Although come to think of it, I think it would be better at this point if WiiU goes for GTAVI.) I'm afraid I don't have much more information about this than I already know, but you're absolutely right about the DX11 excuse. It IS a stupid reason, and frankly, something about that seemed off from the start.

Oh well, this COULD help expose the whole BS that came from E3.

Christmas should get the Wii U to acceptable sales, and if Square-Enix doesn't like the numbers then, Smash Brothers should convince them.

Nintendo doesn't care about the competition, but the competition sure cares about Nintendo.

Yeah, because Smash Bros. is always a big seller. Why else did they develop games for Wii? Because that system took off. This didn't, but its recovery is already underway.

I guess I better get a shrink cuz I swear I just bought Mass Effect 3 a week or so ago.. I must be losing it!

Candle —*An Upcoming Project Inspired by Out of This World

CANDLE - A Dynamic Graphic Adventure by Teku Studios

Now THIS is an indie game worth keeping an eye out for. Stylistically, it looks beautiful, but what's even more remarkable is that developer Teku Studios isn't making this as just a straightforward port for WiiU, but taking the time to add unique Gamepad features to it. This is exactly the route that developers in general should be taking. At any rate it will be one of my purchases for WiiU. It looks really promising.

It's also inspired by Out of this World, which is one of my favorite SNES games. It's refreshing to see developers taking WiiU seriously and not just as throwaway ports. Hopefully this trend will catch on as the system continues its much-needed recovery.

I wanted to draw people's attention back to the promise of the game. And how developers approaching WiiU SHOULD be following the example of these indies. Even though the Playeressence.com link got deleted, it DID have some valuable commentary from the folks at Teku Games. The moderator of that site was very favorable to Teku for truly taking the time with WiiU.

This game looks really visually stunning. I can't wait to see how they will take advantage of the Gamepad features.

SNES wasn't a patch on the original Amiga version. Check that out to see what it should have been!

    Looks cool, anyhow!

I don't see very many similarities to Out of This World outside the 2D sidescrolling/puzzle aspect. I'm kind of disappointed since I expected something thematically similar to Out of This World lol, but this game still looks very promising nonetheless and quite unique in its own right.

Yes it IS true. But I think we'd better be careful about mentioning that because a certain person will start trying to discourage us from hoping that a certain game from a recently exposed company will have a chance of coming to WiiU (which I still believe).

Let's just keep this thread on topic: this is shaping up to be a great game.

The art style of this game is really cool. Looks like you're playing through some awesome children's book.

It reminds me, stylistically, of Wii's 'A Boy and His Blob'. I like something that get's the grey matter churning.

this looks to be a beautiful crafted game. Thus proving iwata was wrong when he said they do not make art, because gaming is art Some positives and Negatives/the ART thing

untiy 4 engine supports dx11, so that means games made at that level can be ported to wii u, it seems
I actually said this a long time ago
    Unity engine is good news
