Not too shabby. I used to have my Wii U hooked to my Onkyo 7.2 receiver with a 200W subwoofer and Cambridge Soundworks speakers. Unfortunately, I couldn't open it up because my downstairs neighbor would complain that the pictures were vibrating on walls. When I get back on my feet I'll set my home theater back up. I can't wait for that.

Beats are way overpriced for what they do. ive gotten skullcandy head phones for way cheaper with way better sound.

You are mistaken. youre comparing a 1992 corolla to a Lamborghini. Beats using gold component and premium materials greatly surpasses your skull garbage

"gold components". Do people still really believe that? I guess you'd buy $120 HDMI cables at best buy because they are "gold platted"

I misread nothing. all you did was add to his sentence to make his statement look as if he did not just call deader2818's preference (skullcandy) something better

gold components are in them. Also only the jacks yes indeed are gold plated. No I would not go for the gold plated hdmi unless it were a $5 difference. But gold plated component cables perform much better than one that isnt

gold is actually the worst metal conductor.

So you would pay $5 more for basically nothing?

I didn't know beats were backed by monster cable. It makes a lot more sense.

if you like beats thats fine, but you are basically paying more just for a look and name brand.

And no, Silver is actually the best metal conductor. Most use cooper because its cheaper. Gold is only better because it has a much higher corrosion resistance.

Beats are good but they are way overrated and you are paying for the brand with a celebrity name on it. In digital sound and video gold plated or gold connecters are way overrated as well. They used to make a difference in analog sound and video but now it is more of a selling point to those that do not know any better.

So overall they are not bad but very often you can find better sounding and quality in other brands and for less cost.

The markup on those cables is ridiculous. 5% above cost for a $40 cable is $8.

Isn't aluminum a better conductor than silver? I'm pretty sure it is, just heats up way too quickly and can catch fire.

I'm running a 5.1 surround setup with 4 Infinity Primus P162's, a Infinity Primus PC351 (center channel), and an Infinity 12" Sub powered by the Marrantz SR5008. At 100W per channel it'll shake the whole house. I just can't wait to upgrade my 40" TV to a 60" to finish my home theater. If it weren't for the big ass window in my living room I might consider going with a projector on a larger screen.

I use to be the expensive cable hater.. Then I got a new TV and it turns out my cheap HDMI cable let's out RF interference due to lack of shielding if a more expensive lead. This RF interference knocked my TV channels all off when my PC was on.. Roll on a new expensive (OK only £20) cable and it sorted all problems. I'll never go cheap again.

High quality cables at wholesale prices. I've found them to be better than Monster cable.

I have some Sennheiser headphones I use wirelessly with my television. They run on their own 2.4ghz network using some standard called Kleer. It works pretty well, though there's no mic, but I don't play much online and I could always use a separate mic tethered to my shirt collar.

I am not a beats fan. Too much advertising and not enough technical data. It's a brand though so I'm sure some of their products are better than other products they offer. But they're certainly overpriced.

I also have some Sony bluetooth headphones I use on the go with my cellular. 3DS doesn't support BT and Vita only has BT2.1 so they are no use with the 3DS unless wired in and of little use with the Vita because of the poor audio quality.

a fool and his money are soon parted.... I guess we know what's going on here.... Gold is used purely for corrosion resistance, copper is sued for it's plentiful supply and ease of working with on circuit boards

I just have my Wii U hooked up to a simple RCA 5.1 surround sound system a friend of mine gave me two years ago. It's nothing fancy but the bass response is good and it can get much louder than I need without any sound distortion. It's not as fancy as what some of you guys have, but you can't beat free!

This argument is funny. Beats is a $200 fashion accessory with $15-$30 headphones, and skull candies are cheaper POS. You need something like Grado, sennheiser, etc.

I've had a pair of sennheiser 595 headphones for many years, and it's VERY OBVIOUS to anyone who uses them how superior they are to the skull candy or Beats.

Suggesting skullcandy over Beats is like suggesting a $60 android tablet over a $50 android tablet.

Meh. I have always felt unless you buy real cup-style headphones, you shouldn't pay over $15.. Because guess what?

Beats: Costs probably about 25 cents to make.
Seinheiser: Costs probably about 25 cents to make.
SkullCandy: Costs probably about 15 cents to make.

And as long as you don't get the $5 walmart specials at the counter, they all sound damn near the same.

Just like these goofs who walk around with offboard DACS connected to their iphone.. Wow your an asshole who thinks headphone listening should be as good or better as a $500 stereo.. Nope..

BTW. I got an HTC One with Beats 'integrated' into it. Guess what BEATS is? A f*(ing software boost app. (though I have to admit the front facing speakers spank any cell phone's speakers I have ever heard with the beats boost on or off.)

Oh well. Live your dream. Dr. Dre is happy anyways.

    Dr_Dre-20120828.jpg

    And who actually MAKES beats?

    These poor bastards:

I don't use earbuds and wouldn't pay a lot for them but there are lots of great headphones and audio amplifiers do help get a louder crisp sound.

Speakers are great but there are social problems with them. If you don't live alone you can't blast audio whenever you want, if you live in a hotel you can't blast audio whenever you want, etc. My living conditions do not permit speakers and I'm very happy with my pricey Sennheiser headphones. They give me privacy and audio quality without disturbing the peace.

If I had my own island I would certainly get a receiver and speaker system setup though.

They give me privacy and audio quality without disturbing the peace.

If I had my own island I would certainly get a receiver and speaker system setup though.
Actually I like Sennheiser headphones, because really, they are a headphone manufacturer, and not a 'lifestyle appliance' manufacturer (ie. Beats, Apple, to some extent Sony and Samsung, etc.).

I just have a beef on lifestyle type of companies.. They don't sell you stuff because it's a fair price and it's good quality. They rely on market spin to become 'hip' and then put a coat of polish on a regularly priced item and claim it's better because 'it's premium' which really means, they patented a look of something.

    Headphones (Denon AH-D2000)

    Denon AVR-3310 7.1 reciever
and an Argon HA1 Headphone amp (better sound than with the jack-out, it's noticeable!)

I know there's a lot of opinions on the Scandyna speakers (design wise), but by buying them I made sure that the wife wouldn't pull out the veto card and have me hide them away somewhere, also the sound I get from them is sweet and versatile.

the satellites will be replaced when I move (and moved to my workshop along with my old Jamo sub), but for now it would be pure overkill (and I think my neighbours would kill me (or atleast try ))

While I mostly agree, the newest Apple earbuds are the best earbuds I've ever tried.
Of course, most headphones wipe the floor with earbuds. If you want really good audio, try these.
