ehhh. wel i mean if they could they would put it down to 100 dollars. they think the wii u is priced cheap but"wished it was lower". they think it is good. but from a company standpoint lower is better for them.

I think that $300 is low for a next-gen system, remember that Nintendo is selling the Wii U at a loss here, so really around $300 could possibly be the cheapest you could get at this moment.

I paid $400 bucks for my 360 at launch. $300-$350 is ideal considering that I feel like Sony and Microsoft might go $500 for their upper tier bundle whenever they launch. Considering what the Wii U costs now (selling at a loss) and the specs it has, when the competitors launch in a year or two, the cost of production isn't going to go down substantially.

Well, I do certainly think it could be priced better to market toward a casual gamer. Really though, you can't expect Nintendo to go any lower at this point in time. They're already losing money.

I wonder where is the proof about Nintendo is selling the Wii U at a loss...oh and anyone remember Nintendo loses money (2011) for their first time? Good move Iwata! (he cuts his salary 50% and other employees)

It's 50 bucks more than the Wii was at launch, and arguably has better specs for the time, with a significantly more expensive controller.

Half the price the PS3 was at launch, a hundred bucks less than the 360's HDD enabled model. The difference grows with a bit of inflation thrown in.

It's understandable why the CEO of a games company would like a lower price point, especially when they're responsible for casual-aimed cash cows like Just Dance, but for consumers the tech Nintendo has included is coming at a bargain price this time!

Ubisoft is so confusing. Are they for Nintendo, or against them. You hear about all the games they are making for the Wii U. Then you hear about games they say they're not planning on ever porting. Then you hear about more games they are making for the Wii U. Then they whine and complain about how much it costs. Make up your minds, guys. Don't be wishy washy with your support.

The base system is $50 more than the Wii and a mear $100 more than all other Nintendo consoles ever released. Compare that to PS1 ($299) PS2 ($299) XBOX ($299) XBOX 360 ($399-$499) and lastly PS3 ($499-599) Does he consider the Wii U an inferior system to what Sony and Microsoft are preparing to release, more than likely for considerably more money!?!?!?

Those had hard drives, this one doesn't. I think the games are what are really overpriced, $60 is to much for most of the releases.

The price on the hardware when you consider the controller isnt your typical $30-50 controller, but a $150 controller. So the Wii U console itself is probably a $200 piece, but the controller cost puts it at the current price. Everyone just wants to look at the cost based on the graphics hardware, but thats not where the extra cost has come from. If Nintendo has just released a Wii HD, they could have easily come in at the $199-250 price point.

It's Ubisoft. If they had made the system, you'd have to unlock each piece of it with online activated only DRM.
